Experience Design to Experience Performance

An experience design is a promise. Whether it performs is decided on an ordinary day, at the handoffs. Someone has to own the question: can we keep this promise, and did we?

Free: the field guide

From Promise to Performance explains Visitor Readiness in one sitting: why readiness belongs to the promise, where visitor experiences break, and how to tell whether a promise was kept. It ends with a twenty-minute exercise your team can run without outside help. Free to share with attribution.

Visitor Readiness, in three sentences

Visitor Readiness asks one question before an experience is promoted, funded or launched: can we keep this promise? It walks the promise through five stages (Promise, Capacity, Conditions, Delivery, Learning) and ends in one of three decisions: PROMOTE, DEVELOP or HOLD. It's a method I developed from practice, not a certification or a score, and readiness isn't worthiness.

Weighing a real promise right now?

A Fit Call is a free 30-minute conversation about one thing you're weighing: a campaign, an event, a new experience, a grant concept. Bring the promise in a sentence, when it goes public, and who else it depends on. Sometimes the useful answer is a question your team can take back and answer yourselves.

When it makes sense, the next step is an Experience Readiness Snapshot ($750): one specific promise, one 60–90 minute working session with your team, and a written PROMOTE / DEVELOP / HOLD decision within five business days. When several partners need to be in the room, it's an Experience Readiness Lab (half day $2,500 · full day $4,500).

Bring this to your conference or team

I give research talks and run working sessions on one practical question: whether an experience is ready for the people it's promised to. Formats run from 15-minute talks to 60-minute sessions with a live poll and a hands-on exercise.
