Experience design: written, staged and rehearsed for the people who run it

When an experience needs to be created or improved, SLC does the creative work itself (the script, the structure, the staging and the rehearsal), fitted to your building, your staff and your operating day.

What we create

Original scripts and interpretive writing. Host and guide scripts, welcome scripts and the words for live moments, written with your curators or subject experts.

Dramaturgy and narrative development. The question or story that gives a visit its shape: what visitors learn when, what's held back, and where the turn comes.

Creative direction. One coherent idea carried through rooms, routes, voices and materials.

Staging and participatory design. Where visitors stand, move and take part: what they hold, decide or do.

Visitor programming. Evening events, tours, festival moments, visitor-center welcomes and seasonal programs.

Rehearsal and delivery preparation. Talk-throughs, walk-throughs, previews and coaching for the staff or volunteers who will deliver it.

Operational fit. Capacity, staffing, timing, circulation, accessibility and handoffs designed in from the start, not patched afterward.

What you receive

Depending on the project:

  • concept and one-line promise

  • script and host notes

  • run-of-show

  • staging plan and route

  • role sheets for staff and volunteers

  • accessible route

  • rehearsal plan

  • materials list

  • measures agreed up front

Scriptwriting on its own

Have the concept and need the words? SLC writes and edits scripts, interpretive text and host material as a stand-alone service.

Inside a larger project

For design, planning, interpretation and experience firms: SLC can own a scoped creative workstream in your project (scripts, creative direction, rehearsal, staff preparation) with named deliverables and dates. Your client relationship stays yours.

What we don't do

We don't design or fabricate exhibits, architecture or technical systems. We work alongside the firms who do.

How a project usually runs

  1. We start from your real material and your real limits: the collection, the building, the staff you'll have on the day.

  2. We write it and stage it.

  3. We rehearse it with the people who'll run it.

  4. We watch it run, and refine it on a set date.

Before you promote it

Already have an experience and need to know whether it's ready to promote? That's Visitor Readiness. How it works →

Bring one experience. We'll start there.
